“I was definitely the one that made the first move. We found a text thread from back then with some of the first conversations we would have with each other and it was always me first. ‘Hi, how are you?’, ‘Good morning, how are you?’, ‘Hi’, ‘Hi’, ‘Hi’… It was always me first sending the message. He was very shy at that time. I was really curious about him, I remember that clearly."

“When I got back (from India), we had been talking for a year or so. I was back and forth between Leeds and Leicester because my family were moving down there. I was quite motivated with music and would get up early in the mornings to practice. We’d call each other every morning to get each other up.”

“I had said to him, 'You’ve just been in India training intensely for 9 months, you cant lose it when you get back.' I was also practicing singing at the time. It was a motivation thing. We’d motivate each other.”

“One of his key qualities is how helpful he is - and he will go out of his way. Kavi’s actually a really nice guy, like genuinely - he hasn’t got a bad bone in his body, he's interesting, talented, clever, polite, respectful. I wondered: who is this person? Nobody really knew him and that's what drew me to him. I thought, 'I'd like to be that person." … I’m still learning everyday.”

“To have a partner that understands what it takes to be a musician or artist, you have to understand that the art form comes first. When I'm winding down for the day, he’ll go and practice for two hours. You have to prioritise it over your partner sometimes.

For me, I get happiness from hearing him practicing and pushing himself forward. I would say, have something of your own that means equally as much, so that it fulfils you and when you come together, it's just to enhance each other.”

“I remember him calling past midnight, he called me and said to come outside. I was like this better be good cause it’s 1 am. He used to take long pauses before he said something. He said, ‘we’ve been talking for a while now’. He was looking down at the staring wheel. And I think I just said, 'do you want to be together?' and then he’s was like 'yes!'”

“We pretty much made commandments on our first or second date. We’re two independent people but together. The relationship is a part of our life, it’s not something that takes over or becomes to separate. It’s part of and within everything; work, music and family.”
